The HIPAA-ready PDF editor for the faxes and forms in your app
Built into a healthcare portal
Healthcare · HIPAA-compliant workflowsWe needed a customizable PDF viewer that allowed users to modify PDFs upon receipt to fit their specific workflows. SimplePDF’s functionality was precisely what we were looking for, but what truly stands out is the exceptional support and follow-up that Ben and their team consistently deliver.
The fax isn't going away. The printer can.
A fax that needs a signature or a note usually means print, sign, scan and fax back. With SimplePDF it opens inside your app and goes back signed in a few clicks.
From fax or form to signed document, inside your app
No printer, no scanner, no desktop PDF app. Every step happens inside your product.
1. The fax or form opens inside your app, ready to fill
Faxes, scans and PDF forms open right in your product, with your branding. Fillable forms are ready as they open, and on a scan one click detects the fields. No template required.
2. Known fields are prefilled
Your system already knows the patient, the member ID and the ordering provider. Prefill those fields so staff only review and correct.
3. Checks flag what's missing, with or without AI
Run your own rules or your AI agent on the form before anyone signs: a missing NPI, a date that doesn't match. Staff are taken straight to the field to fix.
4. They sign, your app takes it from there
Staff or patients sign in place. The signed PDF goes to your own storage, and a webhook tells your app, which faxes it back, files it in the chart or starts the next step.
Try it inside Acme Health
Acme Health is a fictional healthcare app that embeds SimplePDF. Fill in the form with sample data, then click Submit.
The faxes and forms your users act on every day
Prior authorizations
Payers fax back requests for more information. Staff complete the form, add the note and sign, then your app returns it.
Referrals
Accept an incoming referral, fill in the intake details and sign, without printing the referral packet.
Orders and refill requests
DME orders, lab orders and pharmacy refill requests that need a provider's signature before they go back.
Pharma forms
Patient enrollment, benefits verification and patient assistance forms for specialty drugs, completed and signed by the prescriber's office.
Doctor notes
Clinical notes and letters that need a provider's edits and signature. Clinicians annotate and sign them in place, then send them on.
Records requests
Review the request, mark what's being sent, sign the release and return it from the same screen.
Intake and consent
Patients and staff fill and sign intake and consent PDFs in the browser, before or during the visit.
Discharge paperwork
Staff complete and sign discharge documents and send them on to the next provider.
Is SimplePDF a fit for your product?
Strong fit if you answer yes to most of these:
- Your users receive faxes or scans, or fill PDF forms, as part of their work.
- Some of those documents need a signature, a note or a few fields before they go back.
- You want that work to happen inside your product, not at a printer or in a desktop PDF app.
- You handle patient data and want signed documents in your own storage.
What this costs
HIPAA workflows start on Pro, $349/month. Connect your own S3 or Azure Blob Storage and every signed document goes there, not to SimplePDF storage. That's why HIPAA isn't available on Basic, where submissions are stored by SimplePDF.
Premium, $899/month, adds SharePoint, API access and audit logs.
Why PHI stays in the browser and your storage
The faxes and forms your users work on are processed in the browser. Once you connect your own storage, the signed document goes straight there, not to SimplePDF's.
How processing works
- Documents are processed in the browser
- With your own storage connected, signed documents go to your S3 or Azure Blob Storage (Pro) or SharePoint (Premium)
What this means for PHI
- Signed documents do not pass through SimplePDF servers
- You choose where patient documents live
- Submission names are off by default: turn one on and that single field's value is stored by SimplePDF
