SimplePDF is not a covered entity under HIPAA. Documents are processed entirely in the user's browser and never transit via SimplePDF's servers, on any plan. When storing completed documents, the client uploads directly to the target storage using presigned URLs. No patient data ever passes through our infrastructure.
Do I need a Business Associate Agreement (BAA)?
No. Since no PHI ever transits via SimplePDF's servers - documents are processed client-side and uploaded directly to the target storage - there is no BAA requirement. Learn more about our embed options.
Does SimplePDF work with eFax services?
Yes. Any eFax service that delivers documents as PDF attachments works with SimplePDF. Staff can open the PDF directly in the browser, fill and sign it, and return the completed document.
Can I embed SimplePDF into my EHR or healthcare platform?
Yes. SimplePDF can be embedded as an iframe or integrated via our React, vanilla JS, or web component packages. Documents stay in the browser, and completed PDFs can be sent to your backend via webhooks.
